Our History
OUR HISTORY
Jonathan T. Runner, the founder of Runner Turf & Landscaping, began his career in landscaping at the early age of 14. He started working for a gentleman by the name of Chris Ising, who owned a small garden center and landscaping company in the Louisville Highlands area where Jonathan grew up. Chris, who was quite a character and who had a larger than life personality, literally plucked Jonathan off of his front porch and put him to work at his shop.
Jonathan is passionate about landscaping and nature in general. He was one of those kids who preferred to be outside every chance that he could get. Chris Ising essentially opened the door that led Jonathan down the rewarding path to a career that allowed his love for nature and being outdoors to shine through his work.
Chris mentored Jonathan for several years until Jonathan officially opened his own business in 2000.
Jonathan loves what he does, and it shows. He has traveled to a number of countries in Europe, including The Netherlands, France, Italy, & Germany, to study and explore various landscaping styles and techniques. Jonathan incorporates both classic and modern designs (depending on client preference) into his landscaping projects to create beautiful outdoor sanctuaries for his clients to relax, unwind, and enjoy.
